I guess I should have known by the way you parked your car sideways that it wouldn't last

Life has been pretty quiet lately and therefore I don't have much to report. I have seen some movies lately though.

  1. Coraline Meh. I saw this one for work and I wasn't that impressed. My coworker and I both needed some Dr. Pepper to stay awake. The girls kept saying it was a Tim Burton film and I wish it actually had been. One notable thing: There are 2 quirky old ladies in the movie and the girls at work decided that Liz and I were the two old ladies. I was happy that I was at least the blond, uh, well-endowed one.
  2. New In Town My hopes weren't super high for this one but it was more funny than it was cheesy. The Minnesota accents and phrases reminded me of my grandparents. It didn't hurt that Harry Conick Jr. + facial hair = good things. Renee also has some really great shoes.
  3. He's Just Not That Into You Also better than I thought it would be. Maybe I'm a movie pessimist. Maybe I don't like cliche chick flicks. Either way I liked it. On the movie website there's a funny video of the guys in the movie explaining and acting out the top 10 chick flick cliches not found in the movie. I never read the book but Melissa said the movie kinda misses the point of the book. So if you're a book purist then you might be disappointed.
That's all.

The most important things are the hardest to say, because words diminish them.

If you are one of the few people who read this blog I probably know you. For most of you that also means I love you. So to you I say:

Happy Valentine's Day!
I love you!
Te quiero.
Eu te amo.
Jeg elsker deg.
L'amo.
Ich liebe Sie.
Je t'aime.

A pirate term.

A text message conversation regarding some plotting:

Erica: Ha ha! Well I'm glad you're in on this. We will share the spoils!
Jodi: What are the spoils?
Erica: The goods, treasure, prizes. I think it's a pirate term.
Jodi: I know what the word means. Ha ha. I want to know what the prize is!

A pirate term. Ah, I am glad to be friends with Erica.

Did you not tell them that they were the Lord's chips?

I'm a month and a half behind in posting this. But whatever. I don't really care.

The Nacho! Nacho! party was a raging success. Becky was here from California at the perfect time. Our shirts were awesome. Except for where I messed mine up with the iron. But we aren't talking about that. The Lord's chips tasted great. Basically, everyone came and brought a topping or drink and we partied!

There was also that moment where I made 70+ mini cupcakes with light blue frosting and red sprinkles to match the theme. They were very cute and very small. Then on the way to the party someone cut me off and I had to slam on the breaks which sent about 56 of the 70 cupcakes flying onto the floor of my car. But I don't really want to talk about that either. I was devastated.

Prepping the night before:

The hostesses:
The most perfect plate of nachos known to man:
Nacho himself came to the party:
I made this wicked pennant and that's the real reason I took this picture:
New friends (I don't really know that guy):

New friends eat the decorations:

Sometimes, I wish that I was the weather, you'd bring me up in conversation forever

Let it be known that today I tried to dress myself well.

I got ready put on a cardigan and some cute flats. I went out and ran some errands. Then I came home and changed.

When your job involves walking through mud and snow to clean a barn and do laundry, "cute" becomes less of a priority.

Plus, judging by their appearance, the girls I work with have a very different definition of what cute is anyway.

And with that, I'm off to work!

This is me right now:
I had about a day and a half of mental funk. You know those days where it seems like nothing in your life is going the way you want and you are unable to be successful at anything? (Please say I'm not the only one...) I'm thankful the funk was a quick one. Heaven knows some funks are much longer. I'm now being back in the mindset that I am able to work to get to where I want to be and that in the meantime I can make the most of what I have right now.

I'm going to be a coach for one of the girls at work. I'm really excited, I think she's pretty great and I think we can accomplish a lot together. Also, today I went to the URTA (Utah Recreation Therapy Association) meeting in hopes of becoming more involved. I came home the new Central Utah Region Representative. I'm excited to find out what that actually means.

I'm excited to throw myself into these projects and to work on a few other, more personal, things.

There was also some free breakfast at Denny's with friends that helped me ease out of my funk.

We had to wait in line for a while and so they brought out hot chocolate.

Then the hot chocolate was gone and it was cold again.

So that's what I'm up to. De-funking. What are you up to these days?
